Frequency weighting filters for acoustic analysis

Why the frequency weighting filter

The human ear does not respond equally to all frequencies. This has been verified experimentally by determining the equal loudness curves.

The equal loudness curves are lines of equal sound perception of hearing intensity versus frequency. As standard equal loudness curves (shown in the chart below) were determined from binaural answers, several healthy young age in his twenties, the pure tones standard in free field conditions (anechoic chamber). The green line shows the standard threshold of hearing. Each isofónica curve can be expressed in headphones. The handset is a chosen scale so that the frequency of 1000Hz, the number of LN headphones is equal to the sound pressure level Lp.
